The Dow Chair was established at Michigan Tech in 1995. This is a tenure-track faculty position at the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor.

The holder of the Dow Safety Chair will establish a strong externally-funded, nationally and internationally recognized program to integrate concepts of chemical process safety into chemical engineering curricula nationwide and at Michigan Tech; and assist industry by conducting world-class research and mentoring the next generation of safety engineers. He/she will engage in outreach to corporations and government agencies in chemical process safety; teach the required chemical process safety course in the department; serve on departmental, college, and/or university committees. He or she will apply safety-related knowledge, skills, practices, and continuous improvement strategies to everyday work.

The position will remain open until filled, with priority given to applications received prior to December 15, 2016.
