See below for alternate versions of the tool.

The EPSC Working group for Process Safety Indicators has developed this tool, to facilitate the use of multiple systems of incident reporting from a single data set.

The standard version of the tool uses material safety information and release details to determine whether an incident is considered a reportable process safety incident under API 754 rules, or by the rules of the GHS-based system advocated by CEFIC.

The tool takes the form of an excel spreadsheet, and is intended to be easily customisable. The open version of the form, downloadable below, can be extended to allow adding extra rule sets. This will give users with internal reporting requirements the choice of using the same unified data set and single tool for all incident reporting.

Simplified versions of the FERRET tool are also available that use only material safety data to calculate reporting threshold quantities for substances and mixtures.

Note: information contained within the FERRET tool is valid at the date of release, June 2011.
